Meet Tasha R. Storey
Tasha Amos-Storey is an author, registered nurse, and creative storyteller whose work explores transformation, desire, healing, ambition, and purpose. With over eighteen years of healthcare experience, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and academic studies in psychology, sociology, and ethics, she brings emotional depth and real-world insight to both her fiction and nonfiction writing.
Throughout her career, Tasha has mentored hundreds of individuals, worked as an educator and supervisor, and served on quality committees for major hospital systems, including Baylor. Before entering healthcare, she worked with Blackland CDC in Austin, Texas, helping individuals experiencing homelessness transition into stable housing, employment, and self-sufficiency—an experience that deeply shaped her passion for resilience, growth, and purpose-driven living.
Her writing spans provocative erotic thrillers, luxury-driven psychological drama, and motivational, culture-centered self-help inspired by authenticity, perseverance, and personal evolution. Having overcome poverty and adversity herself, Tasha understands firsthand the power of mindset, discipline, and self-belief.
Influenced by writers such as Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, James Patterson, and Deepak Chopra, as well as the storytelling and cultural impact of Kendrick Lamar, Tasha blends emotional honesty, cultural insight, suspense, and inspiration into her work.
Born and raised in Austin, TX and now based in the Dallas area, Tasha writes to empower others to embrace their individuality, transform their mindset, and pursue their purpose unapologetically.
Big Inspiration.
Real Impact.
As a mother of three sons, I became increasingly aware of how few positive role models many young people have to look up to today. Watching them grow up in a world filled with distractions, conflicting messages, and a shortage of authentic guidance inspired me to write How to Be More Like Kendrick for Us. More than a book about music or celebrity, this project grew from a personal conviction that young people deserve examples of discipline, integrity, creativity, and perseverance. I felt a responsibility to contribute something meaningful—a resource that could encourage the next generation to believe in themselves and pursue their potential.
I found that inspiration in the life and work of Kendrick Lamar. Through his artistry, work ethic, self-awareness, and commitment to growth, he has modeled qualities that extend far beyond music. Sparked by the playful fictional book referenced in his music video, this book translates those qualities into practical, actionable principles that readers can apply to their own lives. My hope is that it serves not only Kendrick fans, but anyone seeking direction, motivation, and a framework for building success without sacrificing authenticity. If this book helps even one young person develop greater confidence, discipline, and purpose, then it has accomplished exactly what I set out to do.
Writing has been a dream of mine since adolescence. As a young girl, I escaped into books, immersing myself in stories that inspired my imagination and love of storytelling. Like many people, life, career, and adulthood eventually took center stage, and that dream was placed on the back burner. In 2018, however, watching Kendrick Lamar win the Pulitzer Prize reignited my passion and reminded me that powerful storytelling can come from unexpected places. What began as a passion project, evolved into something more! Once I decided to pursue writing again, ideas began flowing—many arriving through vivid dreams—and from that inspiration, the Secret Compartments series was born: Secret Compartments of Desire, Secret Compartments Higher, and Secret Compartments Faster.
As a registered nurse living and working in affluent communities, I've spent years hearing people's stories and being entrusted with their deepest secrets. Those experiences inspired me to create characters who are complex, relatable, and unforgettable—people navigating love, ambition, desire, identity, and the hidden parts of themselves that few others see. My goal is to tell stories that entertain while exploring the layers of what makes us human. What began as a childhood dream has grown into a published series, and I'm excited to continue the journey with readers as Secret Compartments Higher arrives soon!
